Years in current role/with employer or industry:

At the end of this school year, I will have been with the District for 18 years.

How long have you been a Chamber Ambassador?

Not sure, but I think it’s been 16 or 17 years.

What do you like best about being an Ambassador?

Making connections with different Business and Community leaders.

What is your favorite product or service that your company provides and why?

The District’s goal: WE Empower all students to achieve post-high school success.  For me, this is not just a tagline I say at the Coffee Connections, it is a goal and focus that I am proud to be part of.  Today’s students are tomorrow’s doctors, construction workers, mechanics, teachers, entrepreneurs and community leaders. I truly believe that their success is our success as a community.  WE all have a role to play in how they achieve this success.

If you could own/operate another local business, What would it be?

My dream would be to own a Weaving Studio.  A place to both teach weaving and for others to show/sell their work.

What or who is your “go-to” person or place for business and professional advice?

I don’t have one “go-to” person.  For any business or services I need, I always check the Chamber Directory first!  If there isn’t a current Chamber Partner that provides what I need, I will ask another Partner for a recommendation.

What’s your favorite sport team or movie?

Since my nephew went to the University of Oregon, I’m a Duck fan all the way!

What is your favorite hobby or what do you do for fun?

Weaving! I have a floor loom at home and I weave at the Multnomah Arts Center.  I love learning new techniques and materials.  I’ve woven everything from rugs and upholstery to delicate scarves. The latest scarf used a silk as fine as sewing thread.

What’s something on your bucket list?

There are a few archeological sites I would like to see in Turkey.  I lived in Africa for two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer. I would like to go back to the village I lived and there are several other areas I would like to see again.
