Thank you to these sponsors… What is Leadership Beaverton? Leadership Beaverton grew from a desire for more knowledgeable volunteers, board members and elected officials in the city. The purpose of Leadership Beaverton is to provide training so that better decisions are in our community. Each summer 25 students are accepted for the program, which runs from September through May. Students dedicate one full day a month to an interactive community learning experience. They increase experience presentations and discussions on topics that include Beaverton history, government, human services and quality of life. When the program concludes, participants have a better understanding of how our community has developed and what needs exist. Each graduating class completes a service project fulfilling a community need… The 1999 class built the first Habitat for the Humanity home in Beaverton. The class of 2002 planned Senior PALs Day, an open house at the Beaverton Police Activities League for PAL youth members and local senior citizens, to foster relationships between youth and seniors. In such cases, an exporter will require to present a Certificate of Origin, which is certified by a designated regulatory authority. This form requires the authorized signature of the local Chamber of Commerce Secretary and the seal of that organization. CO Customer Requirements Business/Exporter must be located in Oregon. City & Development Codes
Beaverton City & Development Code City Codes To obtain a specific ordinance you should contact the Beaverton City Recorder’s Office at (503) 526-2497. If a particular Beaverton Code section is being relied upon, it is suggested that you give the Beaverton City Recorder’s Office a call to ensure new ordinances have not amended or repealed the particular section(s). You may also preview hard copies of the City’s Code at the Beaverton City Library, Washington County Law Library, Lewis & Clark Law Library and Multnomah County Law Library. Full Beaverton City Codes Online Development Code The Development Code contains detailed descriptions of zoning districts and specifies what uses are allowed, prohibited, and conditional in each zone. The Code is intended to cover almost all types of land use issues which may arise but in cases where a land use is not listed, a process for interpretation of the Code is provided. The Development Code also contains procedures for various land use matters, including development, annexation, and modification of previous approvals. Given the breadth of issues the Development Code addresses, the procedures of the Code can be fairly complex. However, City staff is available to assist the public in understanding the Code.

History of Beaverton
History of Beaverton The Tualatin Valley and Beaverton area was originally the home of native people who referred to themselves as “Atfalati”. Westerners later mispronounced the name as Tualatin. The tribe was a hunter-gatherer group which relied more on plants than animals for their food. They made use of various plant materials for making their clothes, houses and other personal effects. Although prosperous, the Atfalati population declined significantly starting in the late 1700s. The Native Americans occupied a village located on the Beaverton and Fanno creeks that was called “Chakeipi” Although the name meant “Place of the Beaver”, early settlers called the village “Beaver Dam” and this was later changed to Beaverton. The Explorers and Pioneers It was not until 1792 that westerners first visited the Pacific Northwest when American Robert Gray sailed into the Columbia River and opened the door to exploration. Later that year, British Lt. William Broughton, serving under Capt. George Vancouver, explored 100 miles upriver. Along the way, he named a point of land along the shore in honor of his commander. The first overland expedition to the northwest came when American explorers Meriwether Lewis and William Clark visited in 1806. On the return trip, they
